I've only had it for a month or so, but so far so good. It warms up quickly and gets very hot. It cools down reasonably fast, so I don't worry too much about children getting burned. The heat indicator lights are very helpful, once you know which burner is which.
It replaced a Dacor cooktop, which had cracked. The Dacor was nice as well, but the replacement cost nearly twice what this cooktop cost. It's hard to clean, so the burners look used. I don't use any chemical cleaners, so it doesn't look "new" but I don't care about that.
The stainless steel rim holds spills, so they don't spread out all over the counter. I like all the different sized burners, and I really like the simmer one that you can use to keep something at a really low temperature without burning.
So far, so good, but again, it's only been a month. In a year, the story could change. My Dacor electric cooktop cracked at one year and a couple days, conveniently out of warranty. I hope the F&P is sturdier.
