Have owned this Bosch 300-Series Gas Range for two months. I ordered it directly from the Amazon-linked AJ Madison website. As for that store, the stove was delivered as arranged and the price was right, as it was on-sale for a few days. More on this later. Narrowed my list down to two: the Bosch and the Frigidaire FGGF3054K. The Frigidaire had a few advantages, these included a Convection oven feature, a better lower-drawer handle, a 17Kbtu front burner and a slightly more advanced oven-rack arrangement. This range is about $25 cheaper than the Bosch. I finally went with the Bosch because I had had good luck with their electrical components when doing repairs on my car in previous years. I also liked the more squared edges of the iron-grates covering the burners. Both stoves seem to be a good value for 8 bills. As mentioned, bought from AJ Madison. A few cautions are in order here. They will attempt to tag-on added charges after the delivery for a thing like delivering the stove up more than a certain number of steps (an arbitrary #). Before the stove is shipped, call their service rep, not sales, and tell them you will only allow delivery on condition there will be NO extra charges. I had to be a little forceful about this. And waiting for the sales department to answer the phone will require patience. These are New York-sharpies but they will be honest if you keep on top of them. I would purchase from them again, but only if the price was 25% lower than local dealers. Now some details on the Bosch stove: nice big lighted oven with a big window, fantastic non-slide full-coverage iron grating on top. The oven preheats quickly and since it is so roomy will not (my opinion) need a convection feature. All the design effort was on the burners, oven and electronics; the bottom warming/storage drawer is the typical cheapie type found on any $450 range. The working parts are fantastic, however. High-quality touchpad includes great timer functions for baking and general timing of cooking. The timers shut-off the oven as required and all timer functions beep every one-minute after timing-out, a great safety and convenience feature for me. Those not yet familiar with new gas ranges will have to get used to the electronic ignition for the top burners. Turn to lightning symbol till lit, then set to desired flame. The oven door will detent (pause) when closing but do not expect it to hold in open position solidly, as these ovens do all broiling with the door closed. On first use, you will probably notice two things which seem like problems but are not: an error signal may pop-up on the display during first use. This immediately clears up once the stove has been plugged-in for a few minutes and the burners have been used. The other brief annoyance is that, due to the installer disturbing the gas lines, there will likely be some dust which blows up through the top burners, causing a snap sound. This clears up in a few days. Flame level adjustment is non-linear, an annoyance to some, but is compensated for by the ability to turn the flame down to an extremely low usable level.As for safety around children, the stove comes with the usual non-tip floor-bracket and has a nice electronic Lock feature for the oven door. It has the required push-to-light knobs for the 5 top burners. One caution with any of these full iron-grate stovetops is that boys between 3-7 may get curious on seeing Mom cleaning the stove, and may lift off one of the 3 grate sections out of curiosity and drop it on his foot. Just train the little rodent. As for my 4-Star rating of the range, I would give it a full 5 Stars but having owned the thing only a few months, I cannot comment on continued use or quality of Bosch customer service. So far, this gas range is great.

 "Quality and Customer Service Nightmare" 2009-07-23

In April of 2009 we purchased several Architect Series stainless steel KitchenAid appliances from a local authorized dealer including a diswasher, microwave, stove, warming drawer and a 36" cooktop and downdraft unit (~$10,000 of product). When the cooktop unit arrived it was installed by the local dealer's service technicians. During the installation we discovered that a number of pieces were missing from the cooktop including burner tops that prevented us from using the cooktop. After 3 to 4 phone calls to Whirlpool and about 2 weeks later we finally received the parts and discovered that Whirlpool (owner of KitchenAid brand) had sent the wrong parts. After several more phone calls we were finally sent what we thought were the remaining correct parts. After the technician arrived to install them he found that we were missing more burner parts from the high capacity burner and that using the burner without these parts had scorched the cooktop slightly. At the same time we discovered that the downdraft system activation button was not working correctly and more new parts for both items were ordered by the technician. A new cooktop was ordered and then installed about 3-4 weeks later by the local dealer. After the cooktop was installed we discovered that it was scratched badly and ordered another. About 2 weeks later the parts for the downdraft arrived and were installed by the local dealer technicians. The next day the downdraft system got stuck in the up and on position and could not be turned off. Another cooktop arrived several weeks later and was installed. I called the local dealer frustrated at having paid for a new cooktop in April and still not able to use it fully in late July and was told by the owner that we had to wait to have a Whirlpool authorized 3rd party technician come to our house to evaluate the unit before Whirlpool would do anything to replace or repair the downdraft unit. Meanwhile, after 4-5 phone calls and being transferred around in Whirlpool's "customer service" bureacracy of divisions we tried to get a replacement unit and were told by Whirlpool that they would send us one but that they were on backorder and it would be mid-August before one could be delivered to our home. We asked them if they could find one at a distributor or retailer and have that unit sent to us and were told by the "customer service" person that they don't do that. They furthermore said that we could try to do that on our own but that they would only refund exactly the discounted price that we paid from the local retailer and not what we would have to pay to get one delivered from somewhere else in the country to our home.



I run a manufacturing business that sells products in the same price range as these appliances through distribution to retail stores. We occassionally make mistakes as do all companies. When a customer has a problem, our customer service ensures that the customer is taken care of immediately either through a local retailer or directly from us. We see a problem as an opportunity to have customers rave about our service levels to other potential customers and realize that service attitude and responsiveness pays for itself several times over in the positive word of mouth versus the negative that would occur if we didn't do this. Whirlpool had a huge opportunity to have my wife and I telling a wonderful customer service story that would have positively influenced other potential customers in an affluent community where many of our friends and neighbors are upgrading kitchens. Instead I will be telling as many people as I can both verbally and online about my experience and the impact to their sales will be 10-100 times what it would have cost them to be nice to us and try to solve our problem. I hope that someone in the management of Whirlpool someday gets this message and uses it to change the company for the positive. Meanwhile, I suggest that if you can, you should avoid buying any of the brands that are made and serviced by Whirlpool.

We needed to replace a 15 year old modular Kitchenaid cooktop with an itme that had about the same size cutout. We wanted a stainless steel deck and at least one high-output burner plus a simmer burner. The KitchenAid seemed to fit the bill the best. Advantages include a good layout with knobs in front with plenty of room btween the burners so that you can easily put a huge (e.g. 14") frypan on the center 20,000 BTU burner with room to spare. The burners themselves look like they are easy to clean and the ignition seems stable with the gas not flowing until there is a spark. The two front burners are plenty powerful for 12" pans. There is a lockout feature but it seems like a smart 5 year old could defeat it. The stainless surface has a clear coat which I hope is durable. We clean it with spray cleaner only and it looks great and hope for the best. The center burner is probably powerful enough for a wok if you have an adaptor. One minor annoyance is that they do not recommend copper or aluminum bottom pans as this mars the cast iron grates.



In this range, the only other cooktop that made sense was the Miele. Wolf and Viking seemed pretty standard and Gaggenau, though nice looking, was almost three times the price for a marginal performance increase.

I purchased a 220 Volt Advantium Oven as the convection cooking time is half that of the 120 Volt model. You do not have to run a thick, super heavy duty stiff 220 volt cable as you might with an electric range. I ran a 220volt-12 Gauge copper wire which was very flexible and easy to install. The amperage on this oven is not that high. I have had this unit almost since it was first introduced. The new model has many needed improvements since mine. You will love it. I rarely use my large gas range-convection oven except for the cook top. The Advantium also mixes different levels of Microwave and Convection Heat to get great cooking results. Use it separately as a micro or convection oven too. Many users do not know that it was also designed to combine these two energy sources. You also need to know when to use the round metal tray, round white ceramic tray, or round open metal grid tray. READ THE MANUAL until you get the hang of it. Nobody does. My service guy used a metal tray when he poached fish in a pyrex covered dish! Poor results. Dahhh! He didn't read the COOKING MANUAL, just the REPAIR MANUAL. It also makes a great range hood vent and turns itself on thermostatically or manually if you neglect to. I also use the programable hood light as a night light. This has been the best appliance I have ever purchased and is worth the extra money. Treat yourself! If you are a "Ding-Ding" cook and just microwave cold coffee and frozen dinners, don't buy this! This is for COOKS!

Over the course of the last 6 years we have had to replace the door handle on the unit 4 times. They tried to say we were too close to the oven, but that was not the case. Confirmed by the repair people that installed the replacements. Two of the handles were replaced under warranty. The last two we had to cover ourselves. We just had the magnetron go out (Sparking inside. That was exciting.) and are still waiting to find out if that will be covered by warranty. If not, the repair will be about $300. Which is about the time I will probably purchase another manufacturers' microwave...

I have had my Advantium for about 5 years and I love it! The other reviewer says you have to have a 220V outlet, but that's not true for this oven. It does come in BOTH sizes, and since the title of this item says "120", it will plug into a regular outlet.



It's not a really simple to use microwave, but it's extremely versatile. It is very easy, with one push, to make it do 30-second microwave increments at 100%, but if you want to microwave at a lower percent, you really have to know what you're doing! (Turn to "time-cook" under "microwave" , push "enter", then select your time, press "enter", and then turn the power dial and press "enter" again!) I've always said that you can't be simple-minded and use this machine!



I love having a small oven which bakes (and REALLY "bake", and not microwave) a casserole or baked goods. It's also wonderful at re-heating pizza using "speed-cook" in just a VERY few minutes, on its black oven tray. It comes out crispy and not floppy like it does when reheated in a microwave.



I'm sure it will do a lot more than I have used it for, and I think it's a great combination oven.

I luv my Advantium, however those considering this oven need to know it does require a 220 v outlet. It will brown foods with halogen bulbs on top and bottom, bakes cookies and breads, yum!I have had my Advantium for about 7 years with fairly light to moderate use when a fuse had to be replaced, along with some electrical panel work. Sears will work on these ovens and that cost me a little over 300 bucks. So my frustration was, here I purchased what I thought was a well-made, high quality oven/microwave, and it let me down after only 7 years. OH, also it malfunctioned again early this year and I am trying to decide whether to get it fixed or just buy a regular microwave. IN the meantime, i am using my 26 year old JCpenneys microwave until I decide what to do. They don't make'em like they used to!!!
