As a disclaimer, I did not buy this item from Amazon or one of their suppliers. But I did buy this from another well known internet vendor.
Anyway, I have always used electric cooktops. When I was remodelling my kitchen this time, I decided to switch to gas. I was looking for a 30 inch cooktop, and the Bosch model, I thought, had an attractive feature of 5 burners in that space. I think the only other one in the market that provides this alternative is a Kitchenaid.
First of all I have to say that there are some serious design flaws that make this cooktop undesirable.
First thing I noticed (coming from an electric cook top) is that the handles of pots and pans get very hot very quickly. All the heat seems to directed to the periphery of the pot. There are no holes in the burner that would heat the center portion of the pot.
As a result using small pots, it takes a long time for anything to come to a boil.
Round bottom woks become very inefficient even with the large burner in the center.
The distance between the top cast iron grid and he flame burner is too large and all the heat sort of escapes from the side.
It takes of twice as long for water to come to a boil using this burner when compared to electric burner.
